Cornerstone Wellness Center

The Cornerstone Wellness Center is a warm, inviting and professional space with some of the comforts of home. The program consists of a reception area, kitchen/dining area, a comfy sitting room for groups with lending library, fitness room, offices and holistic treatment rooms.

Cornerstone Wellness Center provides clients from all over the North Shore with a safe and supportive environment to enjoy holistic therapies (acupuncture & massage therapy), case management, educational programs and nutritional services which consist of consultations with a nutritionist, daily community meals (breakfast & lunch), and access to a food bank of nutritious groceries once a month. The goal of the wellness program is to increase client’s skills and knowledge so that they can improve their overall health and well-being; however, the real gem of the program is the opportunity it provides for peer support between clients. HIV can be a very isolating disease and at Cornerstone people have the opportunity to interact with other folks who are often dealing with similar issues. It’s a space where people can let their guard down and talk about how living with HIV impacts their lives and they can also kick back and talk about sports, movies or the weather.

The Cornerstone experience is one which provides the opportunity for both relaxation and productivity. Clients can meet with an array of providers from outside agencies while at Cornerstone. A nurse from Lynn Community Health Center is at Cornerstone weekly to listen to client’s general health concerns and to provide guidance and support to help people manage their HIV meds and possible side effects. A licensed Social Worker from LCHC can meet with individual clients weekly to provide mental health counseling and is also available to run a support group. Case Managers from Strongest Link and LCHC keep regular weekly hours at Cornerstone to make it easier for clients to meet with them on an on-going basis. Once a month, an attorney from JRI in Boston is onsite to meet with clients to discuss legal issues, write wills, health care proxies etc. A housing advocate from NASCAP is also available to help clients to begin and complete a housing search. Clients may also use the Cornerstone computer to help facilitate their housing search as well as the Xerox and fax machines. The beauty of the Cornerstone program is that a typical day offers abundant opportunities for clients to improve their well-being.
