energetic, and darn good-looking: these are just a few
of the words used to describe our Volunteer of the Year, Anthony. Anthony made his mark by driving clients to medical appointments,
raising $1.8 million in 2006, and most importantly, baking
homemade muffins for the Strongest Link staff each morning. |
Anthony
began life as a sharecropper's son in rural Mississippi in
1909. After teaching himself to read at the age of 14, he
dedicated his life to helping others. You too can make a
difference to people in need. Please consider lending your
talents to Strongest Link and impacting families across Essex
County and beyond.

Mission |
The
mission of Strongest Link, Inc. is to meet the needs of individuals
infected and affected by HIV/AIDS in Essex County by providing
compassionate support services. Strongest Link promotes the
health, well-being and self-sufficiency of its clients by
providing professional case management, wellness programs,
and other opportunities and events to evoke healthy lifestyles
for our clients and their families. We are committed to strengthening
the service delivery system by forging collaborative partnerships
with other service providers. Our prevention/education efforts
seek to prevent the further spread of HIV/AIDS among youth,
our clients and our community, emphasizing the human face
of the disease.

| Our
History |
Strongest
Link began as a grass roots organization, powered by the
vision of Jack Armitage, an Essex County resident who realized
that AIDS was not only an inner-city problem, but a disease
advancing through a cross-section of society. Strongest Link
began in the Fall of 1988 to offer a haven of support for
those impacted by the disease, to establish the first peer
support group and the first educational program in the area.
Incorporated in 1989 as a 501 (c) 3, Strongest Link continued
as a largely volunteer group until 1990 when it became a
professionally staffed, full-time AIDS service organization
serving Essex County.
